New Mac mini @ MWSF 09?
Wired.com has released an article about a rumor from Cupertino about a new version of the Mac mini being released at MacWorld San Francisco in January… If this rumor ends up being true, it’s about time! The little Mac mini hasn’t been updated since August 07 which is extremely out of character for Apple (their products typically have a 12-18 month lifecycle).
- The new mac mini will include an all aluminum unibody enclosure like the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros have.
- It will only include a mini DisplayPort as it’s only video output.
- It will include a larger hard drive and faster processor. (I think this is a given.)
- The higher end will include a Nvidia graphics chipset while the lower end will have an Intel onboard graphics chip.
- The price will be reduced by $100 for each version due to the recession.
Whether any of this is true or not is to be seen, but one can hope. I know I personally have been waiting to purchase a Mac mini to replace my AppleTV as a HTPC so I can display all of my videos in their different formats and playback 1080p content smoothly, something the AppleTV has a hard time pulling off. We’ll just have to wait until January to find out.
Anybody else have any predictions or hopes for what’s included in the new Mac mini?
