    Revolutionary Road

A tragic tale of life’s sad truth executed poorly

(SPOILER ALERT) I checked out Revolutionary Road today and I gotta say the first 1:15 I was highly enjoying it.  The whole dreamer theme had me hooked and I loved the crazy son of Bates’ character, but once the dream died and Leo’s character became a prick the story shortly died too (along with Winslet which was super lame).  I guess being a dreamer myself…

    Revolutionary Road

and constantly being told I have to abide by society’s plan had me rooting for a more hopeful ending.  The initial dialogue was spot on though and it was superbly acted.  It all just became a bit too unrealistic for me (as a dreamer), but I could see another critic saying the opposite. I can understand a person who conforms would enjoy this film as a reminder that they made the right choice.  However, I like to have the ambitious underdog prevail in the end.  Also, if they wanted the journey to be about him discovering he loved his children all along and they were the only thing that meant anything to him than why the hell did we only see the kids like twice in the entire film.  I believe they had like 3-4 lines between both kids and if the audience is supposed to care that he chooses his children over a more interesting life than that audience must fall in love with the children’s character first (Flightplan comes to mind).  Also, it was simply way too long because like I said…I enjoyed the first hour.
